I don't have a lot of money but decided to treat myself to a nice hair style change for the first time. I went to Kevin Charles in Sylvania and was set up with an appointment for that same week. I wasn't sure exactly what i wanted to have done so the receptionist scheduled me for a consultation first. My appointment was with Heather. Later that week I showed up for my appointment and was treated very kindly. Heather was extremely nice and personable and listened to my ideas and offered her suggestions. Together we came up with what turned out to be an amazing hair cut, style, color combo. She spent 3 whole hours doing my hair to make it just perfect and she never once appeared bored or as if she felt she needed to hurry me out of there. She explained what she was doing as she was doing it and made sure before doing anything that I was okay with it. I've always been complimented on my sense of style and hair, but since getting this done, I've had 10 times the compliments. I can't say enough good things about my experience. The only negative was the price was quite high and I'm really poor but you definitely get what you pay for!

I found Kevin CHarles salon about a year and a half ago and I will NEVER I repeat NEVER go anywhere else!!!! My husband got transferred here and I was forced to find a new hairdresser. His colleagues wife told me to try it out and I am hooked. I usually see Alicia for my color and cuts and she makes me feel 10 years younger everytime I leave. She always laughs at me because I act like a giddy school girl everytime I get my hair styled. I had a cut with Tarah once too and i loved it. I have also had my eyebrows waxed there and have never been disappointed with any of their work. I now live in Gibralter ,Michigan due to another job transfer and I still make the hour drive, because I just cant trust anyone else to make me as happy. I'm glad to have this website to share my positive experiences with others and its not a surprise to see I'm not the only one!!

Pros: skilled stylists, friendly atmosphere, very professional

Cons: I have to drive an hour to get there!!

After writing and asking for feedback of where Kevin and his girls are, I realized that I should have re-read Followme's feedback much closer instead of skimming it. I found them!!!!!! Right where Followme said they would be. I finally had my hair done right, and that hasn't happened in a long time, and I have tried a lot of other (upscale and neutral) salon's around Toledo and SE Michigan. Not again!! I found my place with Kevin Charles salon!!! Kevin always had a upscale salon with 5 star stylists and a relaxing, non-threatening enviorment that made you feel welcome, always. Lauren cut, highlighted and styled my hair and did a superb job!! Thanks Lauren!! They got me in the same day I called, that in itself is a rare thing with salons, usually they want to know how long your hair is for the highlight/cut, and then they have to hunt someone down who wants to stay till close to do it. No problem here, they got me right in, and I was Loren's focus the entire time, no going between me and another patron, which always makes the experience more relaxing and reassuring. I knew not to expect less with the salon, they are always so conscience about comfort with thier clients. I watched the work of all the other girls/ladies and they were exceptional as well. Right now they are awaiting a new salon to open around June on Holland Sylvania, and I am excited for them. They all deserve it. There is nothing more valuable then a group of woman who on their own stayed together when the going got tough, and the loyalty to their customers and to Kevin. This alone would make anyone in the industry tear up. Not many salons treat or act like "family", and with this enviorment and attitude, it's no wonder Kevin Charles salon stands above the best and the rest!!!!! Great Job Kevin and all his team. And Loren...EXCELLENT JOB on my hair!!!! I am soooooo thrilled!!!!

Let me be very clear---the 5 star rating I am giving is for Kevin Charles himself, and all his employees!!!!! Let me be very clear--- if I were to give a rating to the "new owners", this would be a negative star rating. I left a previous review, before the "new owners" took over under the name Tbttrjpiesmom, please do use this review for any consideration regarding Kevin Charles personally, or any of his employees! They are and always have been fantastic, respectable, and caring people, who ran a beautiful salon! -My last haircut at this salon was in Sept of 2007, and I was shocked to walk in and see the changes the "new owners" had made. They cut the salon size in half, all of the stations seemed crammed in. They painted it dark, dank, and depressing. The decor did nothing to help the dark and dank. They added a big tv on the wall, which made me think of a something you'd see on the wall at a sportsbar. They no longer had a spacious area to peruse hair products. Nothing in the "new owners" salon was spacious, comfortable, relaxing, friendly, or likeable in anyway shape or form to me. They chose not to introduce themselves. The "new owners" decisions and changes removed all appeal from the salon. It no longer felt like the salon it once was, and I chose to not go back. I read "follow me"'s review--- EVERYONE NEEDS TO FOLLOW THE GIRLS TO THEIR NEW LOCATION!! As previously stated, I would drive 5 hours for Kevin to cut my hair, and his girls to do my perms, etc. I would still make the drive, and I will follow the girls. The employees who left were being wise, as the "new owners" were losing the excellent reputation that Kevin and his employees had established, with the undesirable way they remodeled and ran the salon. Sorry thumbs down for the "new owners". I STAND BEHIND KEVIN CHARLES AND HIS EMPLOYEES 100% !!

Pros: I am ecstatic, the girls have left, and are in a much improved situation, and desirable salon! I will follow them!

Cons: I don't know these people, but I hope the "new owners" are able to realize their choices and decisions made, gave them the outcome they have. Just too drastic a change for me! Good luck with that.

I have been a client of these girls for 9 years!!!!! I love every single one of them like family because thats how they make me feel!( like part of their family) As for the recent change in ownership in the late summer, I am not so happy, they were not ever there and I never got formally introduced to them?? I just recently found out that the girls all left, and I am happy for them. Although some of the "family" went to thier own way( GOOD LUCK TO YOU :) ) I am happy to say most stayed together and are now on Monroe St in Sylvania.(where it all started) Please go see these girls they are the best and so is the desk staff. After all the changes they have endured they still stand united in customer loyalty and hair care integrity. I have never recieved such GREEAT service in a salon like I do from these highly trained PROS!!!! Please follow them to 6626 Monroe St in Sylvania. I promise you will be HAPPY. 419-882-3400

Although I had only made one visit to Kevin Charles Salon prior to the new renovations and I believe new ownership, I must say that I was very impressed by my recent visit. It seems as if the entire salon has been rejuvenated. I do not remember the girl that cut and colored my hair, but she did a terrific job and was very friendly. My visit happened to be the same day as the Ohio State vs. Michigan game and there were snacks and drinks for everyone while the game was presented, which was a great gesture. I highly recommend this and look forward to the further improvements to the salon.

I've been a client of Kevin's for at least 25 years; before he owned his own salon. I circulated for my haircuts between him, his sister Kimm, & Amy. I'm now back with Amy. All wonderful. His salon is recognized as one of the high end hair salons in the area. He hired the most eager stylists, taught them further his own specifics & since his move away, is naturally missed among his former clients/entire staff. I would have loved a letter of introduction from the new owner, but since there wasn't one, I don't know his experience with salons. I hope he is open to suggestions as I have a few about the new look & feel of the salon. My intention is not to lecture, but only to offer friendly advice: PLEASE repaint. Yellow & orange do not work in a salon. The colors reflects onto the skin & make clients appear jaundiced. They also interferes with Wardrobe Color Analysis. Clients should be flattered by what they see in the mirror, not frightened. It could partly be the darker waiting area, but since the entire salon space is now smaller by half, the combined overhead lights, lighting over the wall mirrors & the unnecessary newly added wall lighting, it all seems too bright. The hair stations on the floor are pushed closer to those at the wall & the wall lighting is reflecting in the mirrors. It's blinding at times. Burt's Bees & other items that clutter the small counter can be found at Target, Bath & Body, Kohls, etc. A high end salon should offer items only found at a high end salon. The twigs on the wall are overkill. They don't follow any decor & look out of place. The Christmas garland is nice for the season, but it needs to be displayed evenly across the window. For now it looks sloppy. Get some advice from an interior designer experienced with salons, a suggestion box for clients & absolutely it would behoove you to consult with your new staff. Many have been there for years & will be a wealth of knowledge & experience. :)

Pros: Experienced Stylists/Colorists...Nancy & Tammy are wonderful at the desk.

I've seen the reveiws for Kevin Charles salon, so I tried it. I am so glad I went there. The girl that did my hair was Heather P. she did an excellent job and I will recommend her to all my friends and co-workers. Heather was very personable and very professional in her appearance and attitude. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and did exactly that. I am so glad I was placed with her!!!! The color and the cut she did was excellent and I am always asked where I got my hair done. So if you want to try a great sytlist, go the Heather P. She is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!

I give the Kevin Charles Salon 5+ stars. Maybe you had a bad experience with Heather but the rest of the girls are Awesome that's forsure. I would highly reccomend trying someone else the next time for the one who had the bad experience maybe trying another girl would make you happier. Hopefully Heather was having a bad day or something. Give one of the other girls a try I think you would be happy with your decision to go back. If you are looking for someone to do a great Job try Heather P. She is AWESOME! Very Happy with the Salon!

So the salon in general was very nice and the receptionist was great. Unfortunately, my experience with Heather wasn't so great. I'm not sure what her last name was, but I know she had dark hair cut into one of those stacked haircuts. I had asked for a couple different colors to add some life to my hair and when i told her she looked completely non interested in what I had to say. The hair turned out alright. not spectacular....just okay. I guess i didnt hate it. If she had a nice personality I probably would have went back to her, but she didn't. She didn't talk to me the entire time she was putting foils in my hair. She seemed like she didn't want to be there and didn't want to be doing my hair. She maybe cracked a smile once. Just overall she seemed very unpleasant and quite snooty. I definitely will be warning my friends about going here. AT least about going to Heather....everyone else seemed nice I just got unlucky with who i got scheduled with.

Pros: great receptionist! great salon!

Cons: Heather was rude and unpleasant
