Small wedding party? Second class citizen by Betha K. at InsiderPages

My fiance and I had been out house hunting and had finished much earlier than expected so we dropped by Davids during a bridal event that they were having. Upon entering we were asked how many brides maids were in my wedding party and were given a very snooty Oh. when I answered Just one. It's a shame, too, because while my fiance and I are keeping our wedding small, we're pulling out all of the stops so that we can have it EXACTLY how we want it. I had NO budget guidelines for my dress. They could have shown me anything. We were sat in a love seat, handed a catalog and told to pick out the dresses I wanted to try on. After picking out a few we sat there for probably 20 more minutes waiting for our sales rep to come back to us. She shuffled me off into a dressing room, shoved a slip at me, and headed out again. When she returned she quickly helped me into one of the three dresses that she had brought back that were a size smaller than what I had told her I wore (thank goodness I had recently lost a little weight) and immediately left again, leaving me in front of the mirror for another 20 minutes. This happened 2 more times before my fiance meandered over. Finally fed up, I asked HIS help out of the dress I was currently in, changed back into my clothes and we left. As we were walking out the door I saw the sales rep with another customer and five of her bridesmaids, laughing and straightening their dresses, adjusting their straps. She even picked a piece of lint off of one girl's shoulder, I am not kidding! We started to leave and she stopped us and asked me for my contact information, saying that she'd be in contact with me in a couple of days to see if I had made a final decision, which thank goodness she never did. Maybe she could tell by the look on my face that I had no interest in hearing from her again. Too bad for her, I am probably spendin
Wedding dress hunting ground for real-world brides on a budget. Princesses need not apply.

In Short
A chic, sleek boutique, it's not. But those willing to look carefully will likely find a big-time bargain. The staff is helpful and knows the merchandise but doesn't provide extensive one-on-one attention or advice. Stores (particularly on weekends) can be swamped with brides-to-be. David's specializes in beaded satin A-lines and simple lace sheaths that just hit the $500 mark. Most labels are tasteful but of medium-quality: Gloria Vanderbilt, Lady Eleanor, Oleg Cassini and the likes.
