One of our Favorites!. You just have to try Calvinos! It one of my daughter and I's favorite place to go for Mother/Daughter night. We dream about the bread! (made from pizza dough sprinkled with parmesean cheese) that they bring to the table. The pizza is dElish. We have also enjoyed the ravioli and the salad. Probably gonna try the stomboli next time. We appreciate the atomosphere, nice and quaint. Very relaxing with friendly waitresses who do excellent service. Try it, you'll like it!…
one of THE best Italian dives in area!!!!. This swanky, moderately priced, FRESH establishment is a hidden gem! The food portions are generous .The service was attentive! The menu diverse and oh, so good! I have had the pizza- the Stromboli, and tonight I tried the cheese tortellini. The side salad was served with house dressing which was a fresh herb vinaigrette, (and I sampled a bit of the creamy thick Bleu cheese) both were fresh and YUM! Each order is served with garlic Parmesan dusted homemade tasty bread. The ambiance is a bit of Italian bistro style and cozy the smells taht eminent from the 1st floor kitchen are appetizer enough! The pricing is fair considering we will have leftover lunch tomorrow! we will definitely return here!…
Lousy waitress and wine "consultant" who doesnt know wine. We got a table right away and for a friday night at 730 so we thought we were off to a good start. That soon changed when our waitress sent over the wine "consultant" to help us pick out a bottle of wine, when we told him what we usually drink, he said they were "ok" and that he had something better. This turned out to be a cheap bitter tasting reisling. We were told that they only charge retail price for their wine and would only charge a $5 cork fee, the sticker on the bottle said $12 but they charged us $15.99 plus their $5 cork fee. Next came the waitress who forgot to bring out the salad before our dinner and then only brought out one dinner she totally forgot that we ordered two dinners, 2 ppl 2 dinners whats so hard about that?...she seemed clueless. We asked for salt and pepper and she actually went to the table next to us and asked them if we could use theirs. Such a disappointment...this was our 2nd attempt at liking this restaurant but that experience was just as bad we thought it was just an off day but apparently not.…
The Best of Toledo.
I grew up in NY state, I lived there for 15 years and was raised in the Restaurant industry. Calvino's defines the greatness of fine privately owned restaurants. Void of any corporate bureaucracy
which renders restaurants stagnant and boring, Calvino's is a THE hidden gem Toledo. The Pizza is by far the best in Toledo, hands down, no competition. The service is always very timely and personable. This place doesn't have to sugar coat their appearance with eclectic paints, table settings and decorations - it's just quality ingredients combined with skillful Italian cooking. Restaurants like Caio, Zia's and Biaggi's could learn a lot from these little private restaurants. Cudo's to Calvino's!! I'll be taking my GF there again very soon.
I recommend the Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, or one of their FABO Calzones.…
Tiny place, WONDERFUL food!. The food is outstanding. We have tried the pizzas, stromboli, lasagne, some breads and every item was just great! They give you free bread to snack on while you wait for your food and it is delicious.…
