Only for pet owners with no other options & large families. This place is only nice if you can stand extreme cold, broken down things, & shady staffing that picks & chooses who to act nice to. Yes the apartments are over 50 years old, but they could more than make up for it by giving excellent customer service, but they fail at doing this.

Now I myself have never been mistreated by the staff & I do like all the closet space you get, but they've withheld information related to paying them & then had the nerve to put an eviction notice on our door. An acquaintance has had to sue them twice for damages and lying about how much he owed. They tried to call the police on him for asking for a receipt for his payment (obviously illegal, any business has to give a receipt when asked,the police officer told them this, they still wouldn't comply) they proceed to try to lie in a court about what he's paid them. They refused to take his payments but still tried to charge a late fee. He told me there was also a scam done years ago on foreign UT students where they'd charge them extra but put it in the system as normal.

The cable hookup is stupid you can only get it in one room unless you have a cord running from the mainline into a self made hole for another room. Our apartment is 2 bed, only 2 of the 3 rooms have cable. There aren't enough wall plugs in any room. You need a gazillion lamps to get decent lighting. The washer & dryer are expensive but don't do the job. It is extremely drafty please don't believe the "new insulation" line. Our apartment was an oven in summer with all windows open, fans on, or windows closed air conditioner on full blast, & a freezer in winter heat on 75! Our bathroom mirror, toilet, & refrigerator broke within 7 months of living here (we have the updated bathroom mind you 5 extra bucks!). Not all the exercise equipment works, the fee to park off street is ridiculous, the rent itself is ridiculous (U Hills is only around $370 for 2 beds 1 bath) there are bugs but we haven't had many in our place, & for whatever reason they feel the need to enter without knocking, problematic for underage girls in families & college girls living alone! Good thing I wasn't in the shower when they came to change those filters!

Overall I would say wait until they get bought out by another company or go if it's a last resort and you have a pet. If you don't have a pet or big family there's no reason to stay here.

UT students are better off in places closer to campus like U Circle or Hills as they're talking of instituting a program so you can pay rent with scholarships, grants etc. that would normally go back to your rocket card!
