Thailand in Sylvania

by Thaifoodlover65 at Citysearch

Sylvania Thai...

Try it, you will like it! Terri & Toi the owners, whom also own the Bangkok Cafe in Northwood are best when it comes to their specialty which is Thai food. Yes there is a Hibachi table and a sushi bar but I am focusing on the Thai food. I will agree that the ambience at the old En Japanese has much to be desired, but I think that monetary restrictions left little in the budget for an update...but the food is the focus here. The shrimp Pad Thai, Chicken Lop, and Toi's special crab rangoon are incredible! You also have to try the Tom Yum soup....forget chicken noodle to cure what ails you...just have a bowl of Tom Yum soup and you will feel great. Toi & Terri took a risk opening a restaurant in upscale Sylvania, and hopefully the people in this area will realize what a little culinary gem from Thailand that have right in their own back yard.

  • Pros: Terry & Toi will do what it takes to make sure you enjoy your dining experience
  • Cons: They need to find a dependable wait staff, update the decor

E N Japanese invites you to "Enjoy the Art of Teppan-Yaki Cooking". You can't really enjoy the art since they don't have any seating at the only grill where the chef's work. E N's chefs are limited in the art itself, anyway. We made a reservation, arrived and were promptly seated at a huge table, and waited 20 minutes to find they somehow confused our reservation of 3 with a later reservation of 19.

The Shushimi and fried dumpling appitizers were enjoyable. The lobster was rubbery and had pieces of shell stuck to it. The chicken and steak were enjoyable. The rice had the consistancy of rice pudding and our salad & soup were tasteless. The chocolate ice cream that came with our meal had freezer burn and was soupy by the very short time it took our waitress to order it and bring it to our table.

  • Pros: Clean, Nice ambiance., Friendly staff.
  • Cons: , Tease of authenticity, Compitition is better
