Editorial Review for Felt Boston – by Eric Grossman

The Scene
Felt's 14 colorful pool tables and New York-style lounge bring out hustlers of all stripes. Located just around the corner from the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common, just as many people come here to take in the scene as they do to shoot pool. The bar's plush decor and playful lighting fixtures create a unique feel. Slinky cocktail waitresses do their best to not interfere with anyone's shot.

The Draw
The pricey, stylish pool tables are spread over the second and third floors, make this the hippest place to play in the downtown area. Several bars are set up among Felt's four floors, and some patrons enjoy dinner service or appetizers. The house menu has a nouveau riche feel, with designer salads and pizzas available. The third-floor balcony gives those waiting to shoot a chance to spy on the games (and people) below.

We started to go to Felts to play pool every Thursday back in September. From the start they were never very friendly and not attentive to us the clients. The waitress never served us, and we always had to go to the bar. Everyone had such an attitude about them and did not seem to want our business. The management would cancel our reservation at a pool table without telling us because a bigger party would come in. We since moved to the beantown pub down the street and play pool there. The waitresses are very friendly and attentive! The business actually wants our money! People are nice! In this recession where even rich, powerful people lost a ton of money, Felt will go belly up if they do not come off their Mount Olympus and have to actually treat "ordinary" people well. Good luck-you will need it!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: The place looks nice

Cons: The service and attitude drove us away!

Someone should tell the staff this is Boston. You can go for an upscale vibe without acting pretentious. It is very unappealing to stand in line to hear other patrons being made fun of because of appearances. Door staff lacks professionalism.

Pros: Decor

Cons: RUDE STAFF
