Editorial Review for La Prairie at the Ritz-Carlton Spa – by Sandra Ramani
The Space
Tucked away in the Ritz-Carlton Central Park, Swiss skin-care line La Prairie's first foray into the U.S. spa market is far above your typical hotel salon. A relaxed, upscale elegance abounds, as do distinctive details. Locker-room amenities, from toothbrushes to irons, anticipate every need; clients choose their own mood music, with CD requests noted for future visits; and complimentary snacks and beverages (from tea to champagne) are just an order away.
The Services
Decadent face and body treatments with tangible results, using the La Prairie line. Facials and massages are among the best in town, though definitely on the pricey side; the 90-minute skin transforming Caviar Firming facial--with sea proteins, extra massage and caviar eye pads--is one worth saving for. Expert therapists pamper with just the right touch, and will dole out product samples. Unique packages target jet lag, aching feet, party prep or men's needs.

What an experience. I went for the full Privacy Reserve package which includes a facial, swedish massage, manicure, pedicure and a gourmet lunch (with champagne if you ask for it). It was amazing. The service people are so friendly and professional. They kept asking me for anything that I wanted. I also got a chance to try the La Prairie products and I am really impressed with the quality. The lay out of the spa is very beautiful and relaxing, if only perhaps a bit small on a busy Sunday. Overall I give this a 10/10... but be ready to spend a lot of money on the experience. My facial (inculding extractions) was glwoing without ANY usual marks on my face. The manicure and pedicure are fantastic. Rachel is extremely sweet and gives the best french manicure I've ever had in my life. I was extremely happy afterwards. Even my lunch was delicious and fresh. I would probably book during the week next time when its less crowded just because i like the serenity of a less crowded waiting room, but honestly, they do a good job and making everyone feel relaxed while waiting for their session to start.
Pros: Fabulous facials, best manicure of my life, clean, calm, amazing products
Cons: Small waiting area, that's about it
